About Us
As a "mainline" Protestant church we, like our brothers and sisters in other denominations, continually face the challenges of modern social change. Our goal is to boldly face forward and address new ideas, new needs, and new situations, yet not abandon our rich, historic past, seeking to advance in the 21st Century the 17th Century charge of Pastor John Robinson to the Pilgrims setting forth on the Mayflower to the New World - "God hath yet more light and truth to break forth from God's Holy Word." We do believe that God is still speaking and His words have resounding strength for today and days to come! This is an exciting faith community, led by God's Spirit in the way of Jesus Christ. We're thankful for all who are already among us, and we extend a warm invitation to any who are seeking to develop - or further develop - a meaningful and joyous faith!
Basic Beliefs
As we live out our calling as a church of Jesus Christ, we strive to be a place where:- We celebrate the diversity of gender, race, age, creed, and the many other differences that make up the glorious tapestry of humankind.
- We share each other's joys and bear each other's burdens.
- Together we provide the support, encouragement, and/or challenge as we try to live out the teachings of Jesus Christ in our daily lives.
- We combine a traditional worship style with a theological openness to the many ways we experience the Good News of Jesus Christ.
As the motto of one of our predecessor denominations puts it:
In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, diversity; in all things, charity.
We are in the tradition of the Protestant Reformers, and we are continually seeking to find new ways of understanding and communicating the Christian faith. The best summary of our beliefs is in our UCC Statement of Faith .
